This article covers an advanced DNS update. If the content is confusing give this URL to your web / email administrator - they can help you!

The ISN sends emails on your behalf each and every day. In order to maximize the sending success of the emails we suggest adding DMARC to your domain.

NOTE: Adding DMARC is only applicable to those sending emails from a professional email domain. You cannot add DMARC to a free email domain (such as @gmail.com, @yahoo.com, etc...).

What is DMARC?

DMARC, which stands for Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance, is an email authentication protocol that allows domain owners to protect their email communication from unauthorized use and helps recipients verify the authenticity of incoming emails.

Benefits of DMARC:

  1. Comply with Google's and Yahoo's updated requirements for receiving email as of February 2024

  2. Preventing Email Spoofing: DMARC helps prevent malicious actors from sending emails that appear to be from a legitimate domain but are, in fact, unauthorized. This is crucial in combating phishing attacks.

  3. Improving Email Deliverability: By implementing DMARC, legitimate emails are less likely to be marked as spam or rejected by email providers, leading to better deliverability of important messages.

Adding DMARC to your domain:

DNS Record Setup: To implement DMARC, domain owners need to publish a DMARC DNS record specifying the policy to be followed, along with additional information for reporting purposes.

Below is an article that can be followed with the steps to add this to your domain.

If you're not sure where to go within your specific email host's setting, the help article below may provide specific information for you.

Options for your DMARC record:

ISN recommends that you consult with your email host support to review all email settings. To have the most relaxed settings in your DMARC record, which will result in the least amount of undelivered email, you can use these settings:

p=none; adkim=r; aspf=r;

Anything else that can help with email delivery?

Yes! Adding ISN's SPF record in addition to DMARC will provide the best email delivery rate. Please visit the article below to learn more about adding SPF to domain.
