The ISN Report Writer is a new feature available directly via the ISN mobile app.

Step 1: Downloading the ISN Mobile App

First, you will need to download and install the ISN app on your mobile device. The app is available via both the Google Play Store for Android devices and the App Store for Apple devices. Please note that the app automatically syncs so once downloaded, it will continuously check for updates whenever they become available.

Step 2: Finding the Order

After you've downloaded and installed the application, the next step is to locate the order you'll be working on. You can do this either directly through the Calendar feature or the Inspections feature.

Finding the Order Using the Calendar

  1. First, you will need to find the Calendar Icon in the main ISN app menu

  2. Once you open the calendar you will have to select the inspection order event that you want to edit using the report writer

  3. Click on the Open Inspection button to start editing this inspection

Finding the Order Using the Inspections button.

Another method to locate the order you'll be working on is by utilizing the inspections feature. At the bottom of the screen, you'll find a button that provides access to the inspections scheduled in ISN and assigned to you. Simply click on one of them to directly access the order.

Step 3: Editing your template

After starting the inspection, you’ll be asked to choose the template to be used for that specific inspection. You have the option to select multiple templates for the same report, such as Home Inspection and Radon. Please note that once the templates are selected, this action cannot be undone, so make sure to choose the desired template for the inspection.

  • After you select the template, you will see all the categories included in that template; adding and removing categories is easily done by selecting the 3 dots icon on the right upper corner and selecting “Edit Categories”

  • To remove a category, simply click the red circle icon

  • To add new categories, you can just scroll down to the bottom of the list of categories and tap on “+Categories”

NOTE: These changes only impact this specific report, and do not update the template for future use.

Step 3: Building your Inspection Report.

By now, you already know how to open the report writer, select the template, and add or remove categories in the template. Now, let’s review how to start building your inspection report.

Select the category where you will start working first. In this example, we select the category titled “Electrical” Once you select one of the categories you will display the following screen:

Click the message icon to start adding additional details to your report.

What’s Inside Each Item?

The items within each category are customizable to suit your business requirements. They come with pre-written text that you can modify using your own words in the template editor in the ISN. This allows you to easily select the comment that best describes the condition of the property, or even manually input your own verbiage during the inspection process.

The details tab allows you to add customizable details specific to this section of the report. For example, if the item is an appliance, in the details you can describe the voltage, manufacturer, location, additional information, and more. You can also include images for each item. Those pictures will be displayed in the final report.

The comments tab is used to describe the condition of the entire inspected item. It will include pre-written verbiage (AKA narratives). Those narratives are provided in the template, but you can customize your own narratives as well. In the comments tab, you will also find an option to add an image that will be displayed in the report along with the details picture.

Under Comments, you can add the location (where the comment was noticed) and Rating. You can customize your ratings to match your business, but they are commonly meant to flag issues that need further review.
