Radon Equipment Tracking

What’s new: equipment status, calibration, custody, and scheduling conflict warnings

Overview

Radon equipment management has been updated to help you keep track of each unit: whether it is in service, when it needs calibration, who currently has it, and whether scheduling it for an appointment will cause a problem.

  • Equipment status. Mark each unit Active, Inactive, or In Maintenance.

  • Next calibration date. Record the date each unit is next due for calibration.

  • Current custody. See who has a unit, since when, and which order it is tied to.

  • Next scheduled and conflict warnings. The equipment picker on orders shows when a unit is next scheduled and warns you about conflicts.

Managing equipment

Go to Dashboard > Office Settings > Radon Equipment. The table now has three new columns: Status, Next Calibration Date, and Current Custody.

Status

Status

Effect

Active

Unit is available to schedule for drop-offs. This is the default.

Inactive

Unit is left out of drop-off availability.

In Maintenance

Unit is left out of drop-off availability. The label “In Maintenance” is shown wherever the unit appears.

Next calibration date

Enter the date the unit is next due for calibration. The date appears in the list. Once the date has passed, it is shown in red so overdue units are easy to spot. The field is optional.

Current custody

This column shows where each unit is right now:

  • Available – The unit is not checked out.

  • With [inspector] since [date] (Order #…) – The unit has been dropped off and not yet picked up. The text shows who has it, the drop-off date and time, and the order number. It turns red if the unit is overdue.

Adding or editing equipment

Click Add Radon Equipment to add a unit, or the pencil icon to edit one. The form now includes Status and Next Calibration Date along with the name, description, and serial number. Click Save changes when finished.

Scheduling radon equipment on an order

When you schedule a radon drop-off or pick-up, the equipment picker now shows more information. This works in both the current order form and the legacy order form.

Next scheduled

Each unit shows its status and when it is next scheduled, for example “Radon Monitor 1 (Active) – Next scheduled: 08/27/2026 8:30AM, OID: 115”. Use this to tell whether a unit will be free for your appointment. This replaces the old “last scheduled” note.

Conflict warnings

A unit that would cause a problem is flagged in red directly in the dropdown:

When you select a unit with a conflict, a yellow warning banner also appears at the top of the order.

Conflicts you may see:

  • Still checked out – The unit was dropped off on another order and has not been picked up yet.

  • Unavailable – The unit is not available on the chosen date and time.

  • Out of sequence – The appointment would be placed before a previous pick-up or drop-off, or after a next drop-off or pick-up, for the same unit. The message names the other order.

Scheduling anyway

Warnings do not block you. If you need to go ahead, click Dismiss on the banner (or the × on the legacy form) and save. Dismissing applies only to the unit you selected; if you choose a different unit that has a conflict, the warning comes back.

Editing an existing appointment

When you edit a saved radon appointment, its currently assigned unit stays in the list even if it would not otherwise show as available, and it does not conflict with itself.

Good to know

  • Existing units. Existing equipment is set to Active, with no calibration date.

  • Show all equipment setting. If your office has the “show all equipment” radon setting turned on for drop-off or pick-up, all units are listed regardless of availability, and conflicts are flagged instead.

  • Calibration. Calibration dates are for tracking only; they do not block scheduling.
