The Defect Detector is a powerful new feature designed to help home inspectors automatically identify defects in images. By using advanced AI technology, this tool scans uploaded photos, detects potential issues, and generates ready-to-use comments that can be added directly to your inspection reports.

⚙️ How It Works

1. Access the Defect Detector

In Report Writer, navigate to the category or line related to your image (for example, Driveway).
Then:

Click Add Comment
Select the Defect Detector tab (highlighted in purple) at the top of the screen.

2. Upload Images

Choose one of two simple upload methods:

Drag and drop images from your Report Media Library, or
Upload directly from your device

Supported formats: .jpg, .jpeg, .png
Maximum file size: 20 MB per image
Upload limit: Up to 10 images at once
(At least one image must be uploaded to enable the “Analyze Images” option.)

💡 Daily Credit Limit: Each inspector can analyze up to 100 images per day.
If you reach your limit, contact our Support Team to request additional credits.

3. Configure Comment Options

Under Comment Generation Options, you can customize your results:

Choose between Short or Long comment formats
Enable or disable Include Recommendation
Optionally, add context in the “Add context” field to help AI focus on key details (e.g., “Rusted pipe joints” or “Broken insulation”)

Once ready, click Analyze Images to start the detection process.
Each image will be scanned individually, and the AI will generate one comment per image.

4. Regenerate or Modify AI Comments

After processing, the AI-generated comments will appear in the comment selection screen.
You can easily fine-tune them using the pencil icon:

Switch between Short or Long comment versions
Add or remove recommendations
Edit or refine context
Click Regenerate Comment to have the AI reanalyze and produce an updated version

All changes are applied in real time, giving you full control over how comments appear in your report.

5. Select and Add Comments to the Report

Each generated comment will appear in the left panel with a preview image and title.
Click the checkbox available in the right side and select one or more comments.
Selected comments are visually highlighted and marked as Selected.
Select one or more comments to add in the report.
Click Add Comments to insert them directly into the report under the chosen category/line.
Added Comments are visible immediately in the report.

Use clear, well-lit photos that highlight the issue area.
Add context for better comment accuracy.
Review AI comments before finalizing reports — you can always edit or personalize them.
